Intro
Wassup everyone, welcome back to REVIZE.BLOG. Currently we are heading into my favorite season: FALL. I’d go into a tangent about how much I love fall but right now, I want to talk about last month’s Santa Fe First Friday Art Walk! But first, let me briefly talk about the month of August.
I’ve been busy at work meeting deadlines, training people, and maintaining a cool attitude in the desolate warehouse. August is the month that usually marks the end of summers for me – going back to school, no more days of playing games for 8+ hours non-stop, or even unlimited bike rides during sunset. This August was about me and wifey cramming as much summer-related activities. We hiked our first 14-er, hosted a pool party, celebrated her birthday, and ushered in a new life schedule as she’s embarking her college journey.

I took August as a month to break the chains of the normal, monotonous daily tasks. Commute to work, do my 50-55 hours, come home, take care of normal everyday sh*t, go to sleep, and do the same thing I’ve been doing all summer. For a change, I requested some days off to celebrate wifey’s birthday and carry on the excitement from the previous Santa Fe First Friday in July, to attend the same event in August.
It was very different this time around… Prior to coming out to Santa Fe Drive, I was baking underneath the summer heat grilling carne asada, cooling down in the swimming pool, and drinking a moderate, respectful amount of alcohol for about 6 hours… I was a bit dehydrated and exhausted when I came out to the art walk. I was starting to wonder if all those responsible choices were going to affect my ability to shoot but really, I was starting to find a groove that felt natural to me.

Take a look and see! I love the choices I made in these compositions and juxtapositions. We’ll pick up on my reflections at the bottom of this post.

Reflection
I hope y’all liked these photos I’ve taken in August 2026 for the Santa Fe First Friday Artwalk. My fellow street photographer, Jon, informed me about August being the biggest one. It’s the special month where the whole street is closed off (except main roads like 8th Avenue going east to west). The amount of foot-traffic was insane and it got crowded at one point. Sidewalks rarely seemed like viable pathways because those might’ve been blocked too. Despite the enormous amount of foot traffic, there seemed to be less things that came out as interesting to me – and that was a minor challenge.
Picking up on what I mentioned felt different from earlier on this post, I had this mindset switch. Because I felt a bit off with exhaustion and dehydration, the creation process slowed down. No longer was I hastily snapping at what had the potential of a good photo, I was more deliberate in snapping a good photo. There were a couple of photos in here that might have became my all-time favorites in my photographic journey. I was fishing for some photos. It’s a technique where you’ll hunker down in one spot, wait for something to come into your frame, and snap away. I was honing into more juxtaposed images. Really, I was starting to catch my rhythm.
Conclusion
The Santa Fe First Friday Art Walks will be an event I’ll look forward to every summer. I was fortunate enough to meet more street photographers; some of whom are key figures in the local photography communities in terms of bringing photographers together.
That’s all for now folks! Thanks for tuning into this ON THE STREET portion of REVIZE.BLOG! I’ll see y’all next time, JVZY out!
