Back at the San Jose Convention Center, we attend Wekfest San Jose 2018! This time I bought a ticket for Wekfest – unlike the previous years haha. (click here to see Wekfest San Jose 2016 Coverage if you haven’t checked it out yet!)
This year was different because at the time, YouTubers such as Illiminate and KingsMustRise were announcing that they were having a joint booth. Illiminate has been gaining traction in terms of their subscribers/follower count as well as KingsMustRise. It would be no surprise to expect that there would be a lot of supporters coming out to meet and greet their favorites haha. It was gonna be paaacked in the San Jose Convention Center that day. Another thing was that my homie Marvin Pacleb, was going to have his Nissan 370Z Nismo attending Wekfest. This checks the “first time my friend’s car is in a car show” off the bucket list haha.
I wasn’t wrong about the turnout. It was packed in there. The turnout was high in both vehicle and visitor count. Snapping pictures was really difficult if you’re there during normal hours especially if you didn’t have an early-bird pass. With the volume of people, you won’t also be surprised if there’s people ruining some of your shots. Looking at these now, I am critiquing these old photos wishing I could’ve shot them differently or edited the exposure more but, I’m just gonna roll with it haha.
Starting off with Wekfest San Jose 2018’s event coverage is Marvin Pacleb’s Nissan 370Z Nismo. I showed up about 30 minutes right before the doors opened to prepare for the long line ahead of me. As soon as my ticket was redeemed and I received my wristband, I bee-lined my way to see Marvin and the recent rendition of his Nismo. Marvin was always moving in silence and never shared anything new with his car until we saw it in person or saw it posted on Instagram haha. There was one night where the homies and I were washing our cars and Marvin pulls up with a completely new to him set of wheels. I vlogged that occurance and you see my reaction in real-time (and no it wasn’t these set of Work Meisters). I get carried away…

Lots of goodies to find on Marvin’s car. The custom aero kit was fabricated by IG: @con10der8. Some carbon fiber pieces here and there… Very nice fender-to-lip fitment as the wide rear quarter panel of the Z34 chassis meets with the lip of the Work VS-XX’s. This was achieved with air-ride suspension. Marvin killed it with this set-up haha.

As I entered, there was a line-up of (what I guessed at the time) hand-picked rides by the Wekfest staff. Beautiful rides were stacked up front. Here’s a proper NSX sitting nice on some Mugen M7s.

In super mint condition is an RX-7 Spirit R on gold BBS’s.

RWB 911 in a beautiful shade of blue. Damn that thing pops.

I can always appreciate an S13 convertible. Nardi wheel, Blitz 03’s, and Ganador mirrors. Simplicity. I like it.

Thomson Ho from System Motorsports also announced that he was going to be attending Wekfest SJ 2018 with a booth. One of the best FRS/BRZ/GT86/ZN6 builds out there was setup at the System Motorsports booth. The car has such a presence that I can’t get my mind off of. There’s a lot of amazing things going on so I’ll break it down. The stance, aero selection, and wheels give it a mildly aggresive vibe.
Here’s a look at the Varis Solid & Joker Front Bumper with a Carbon Hurtling Lip, Todoroki KMO Fenders, Rays TE37 OG Bronze, and Chargespeed sideskirts on Thomson’s FRS (System Motorsports FRS).

Close up photo of retro-fitted Ganadors. The 4-point cage also makes its appearance in the interior.

You can now start to see the details of the Todoroki Fenders, wheel, tire and brake setup, and the Varis bumper.

Also representing System Motorsports was Edmon Tsui’s WRX on a set of OG Bronze TE37s.

WRX Sedan with fender flares, big wing, lip kit sitting on bronze Work Meister S1 3-piece wheels.

Gray 911 sitting on Rotiforms with Brembo’s and drilled rotors.

Customized Lexus 2IS on a wide set of gold Weds Kranze LXZ wheels.

Lined up at the busy Illiminate booth was Mac Vong’s WRX Sedan airred out on white-faced, chrome-lipped Work Meister S1’s.

Also in the Illiminate booth was Thomson Huynh’s Honda Prelude at static height on Enkei RPF1’s.

Early model Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution looking like a real-life 1:24 scale model car from my childhood lol.

Returning Toyota Camry with the same Weds Kranze Vishunu’s but with a rear bumper lip, side skirts, and Vientia tailight center garnish.

A later generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution sitting on Desmond Regamaster EVO’s.

Honda Civic Type-R (FK8) in a Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic color sitting on Bronze Rays Volk Racing ZE40’s.

An early 2000’s era-built Honda Civic (EG) on Rays C Ultra wheels. I love tri-spoke wheels haha.

Toyota Pickup Truck on black steelie wheels with a front chin spoiler.

Pink with yellow accents on this Nissan Skyline R33 with super polished, chrome Blitz 03 wheels.

Really clean 1st generation Toyota Corolla “KE10” – as mentioned on the license plate. Old school Toyota’s just have that charm.

3rd Gen Toyota Supra (A70) with a 2JZ and Rays TE37 SL’s.

Slightly aggressive EVO with fender flares and TE37 V’s. White cars on bronze wheels always looks good…

This Kouki S14 features an RB engine swap and meaty tires wrapped around a set of Work Meister VS-XX’s.

You can see how clean this engine bay is and how the RB fits right at home. OEM+ builds like this S14 are great!

In the Inspire line-up was this white FD2 converted Civic with widened flares, J’s Racing Type V hood and trunk composed of carbon fiber, and a chassis mounted wing.

Formula Red Acura NSX NA1 on white TE37 OGs.

Another NSX but in black and lowered on TE37 SL’s.

This USDM Integra Type-R features Mugen parts throughout the engine bay and exterior (i.e. Mugen MF-10s, Gen. 2 Wing, valve cover)

Beside the USDM ITR was this JDM-faced ITR but with Spoon parts such as the front lip, mirrors, front brake calipers, and SW388 wheels.

One of my favorite Subaru “hawk eye” WRX/STI’s to exist is this car right here. Not much to say about it other than “gahdayuuum”.

Another clean WRX/STI. I wished I grabbed more pictures of this thing. Just from this angle, the parts selection is on point and everything just flows so well.

This Civic EK hatch features J’s racing fenders, Mugen MF-10s, Backyard Special front bumper, and Spoon mirrors on the exterior.

RHD DA9 Integra with a clean engine bay on TE37 OG’s.

Another car I regret not capturing more photos of is this cement grey Civic coupe on white Advan RG II’s.

Love a red Corolla hatch on small wheels.

This RHD Civic EF hatch houses a K-series with ITB’s in its shaved engine bay.

Voltex widebody kit on this Hawkeye WRX/STI with nicely fitted white TE37’s.

This 4-door Civic looking classy and super low on Impul Silhouette C1’s. Gotta love the 6th Gen. Civic chassis.

This WRX is owned by @con10der8. I like the details on his ride from the wing riser, bumper-exit exhaust, custom diffuser, and CE28 SL’s.

Ending off this Wekfest SJ 2018 coverage with a well maintained Nissan 200SX (S12) parked outside the San Jose Convention Center. The S12 is always a car I admire since it’s the first car I fell in love with. I learned how to drive and learned stickshift in this chassis so I always show appreciation when I see one.

That’s the end of this Wekfest San Jose 2018 coverage. Shoutout to the Wekfest crew for always throwing dope events by connecting fellow car enthusiasts together. It’s like a family gathering for such enthusiasts and it’s something I’m proudly supportive of. If anyone from the Wekfest staff ever reads this post… Thank you, really. I know I’ve made it in life if I can travel out to every Wekfest event. For those who don’t know, Wekfest has reached cities of LA, San Francisco, Chigaco, Seattle, Honolulu, and Nagoya, plus more. If I can be out and about at each venue, I know I’ll feel the most blessed haha.
Thanks for viewing! I’ll catch you in the next revize post!
